Boot Making
Students are introduced to the construction of the western boots starting with foot measurement techniques, pattern making, boot design and boot construction procedures. Emphasis is placed on developing basic sewing skills, procedures and a familiarity with the various components and processes required to construct structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing boots.
The second bootmaking course teaches advanced pattern making skills with special emphasis placed on the latest selection and individual modification to ensure the proper fit. Instructions on design variations including inlays, overlays, wing tips, toe caps and foxing, as well as lessons on piecing leather for maximum use, are all covered in this course. Project assignments include working with a variety of exotic leathers. Through this course, the student will gain an appreciation for quality and detail.
