Outcome
On
completing Fundamentals of Nursing, the student will be able to apply
Therapeutic communication skills, learn the fundamental skills of
assessing a client and documenting the findings appropriately. Students
will understand the basic steps of the nursing process and complete
a nutritional assessment and the mini-mental and depression scale.

Outcome
At
the completion of Pharmacology and Nursing Skills II, the student
will be able to safely administer medications to a group of clients.
Students will also be able to apply theory in the clinical setting
while providing care to residents in a long term care facility. Students
will develop interactive patient care worksheet during the rotation.

Outcome
On
completion of Med-Surg I, students will complete the skill of wound
care and apply those skills in the hospital clinical setting. The study
of human anatomy and physiology and diseases and disorders will enhance
the student’s ability to properly identify problem areas and implement
a plan of care for the clients. Students will be able to identify coping
mechanisms, and redirect actions of the mental health client. Clinicals
will be completed in a variety of settings, as well as the hospital
setting.

Outcome
At
the end of Med-Surg II, the student will have more knowledge in disease
process and disorders of the body systems. They will be familiar
with the most common drugs and side effects and know the importance
of good nutrition. Students will be familiar with the birth process
and be able to provide comfort measures for the postpartum mother.
Students will complete assessments of a post-partum patient and a
newborn during this clinical rotation.

Outcome
When
completing Career development, the student will have completed all
clinical requirements, developed a portfolio with resume, and passed
the LPN Assessment Exam with an 80 %. Students will complete a pediatric
rotation in a day care setting and be able to identify age specific
developmental stages of a child. Students will select and complete
a 120 hour preceptorship during the last month of school.
